Hobart lacrosse opener rescheduled due to forecast

The 113th Hobart College lacrosse season will begin on Friday, Feb. 13 when the Statesmen face the Siena Saints at the indoor Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury, New York, at 1:45 p.m.

The Siena game was originally scheduled for 11 a.m. on Feb. 14, but the forecast for Saturday includes snow with a high of just 21 degrees. The Adirondack Sports Complex was only available on Friday afternoon. Admission to the game is free. There is limited bleacher seating available, but fans are allowed to bring their own chairs.

Hobart's 14-game includes 12 holdovers from last season and two new foes. The Statesmen will play their first four games against New York rivals. After facing Siena on Friday, Hobart will host No. 10 Cornell for the 134th meeting of the Statesmen and Big Red at 1 p.m. on Feb. 21. Hobart will close out February at Binghamton a week later.

March begins with a midweek game against Colgate on Tuesday the 3rd. On March 7, the Statesmen leave the Empire State for the first time, visiting Georgetown to renew a rivalry that has been dormant since 2009. Hobart hosts Canisius under the lights at Boswell Field on March 10, then travels to Towson for the first meeting between the teams since 1980. Receiving votes in the preseason poll, the Tigers have the upset of the year so far, stunning No. 5 Johns Hopkins 7-5 yesterday.
