Team of Distinction: 1957 Hobart Football

The 1957 Hobart football team was among the first four teams to be honored as a Team of Distinction. Along with the 1954 football team and the 1938 and 1940 lacrosse teams, the 1957 football team was recognized as a Team of Distinction on Nov. 3, 2006.

The 1957 football team continued a string of Hobart excellence on the gridiron, extending their winning streak to eight and making it 32 wins for the program in 35 games. According to the Echo of the Seneca, “Head Coach Eddie Tryon once again showed his football ingenuity, as he guided an injury ridden Statesmen squad to an unbeaten and untied season.” The 1957 team finished with a 6-0 record and an average margin of victory of 15.2 points.
