Team of Distinction: 1976 Hobart Lacrosse

The 1976 Hobart lacrosse team was honored as a Team of Distinction on April 26, 2008 along with the 1977 Hobart lacrosse team. Both teams won Division II National Championships. The 2008 Statesmen secured a 10-6 victory over Loyola that day.
The 1976 Hobart lacrosse team earned the program’s first Division II National Championship. Under the direction of Head Coach Jerry Schmidt, the Statesmen secured the title after falling in the championship game in 1974 and 1975. Hobart defeated Adelphi 18-9 in the championship game. Schmidt would go on to lead the Statesmen to two more championship games, bringing his total to five, and winning the title once more in 1977.
