A native of Crownsville, Md., Hutchinson Hundley is one of the most dominant lacrosse goalies in William Smith history and an all-star forward in field hockey.

A two-time lacrosse All-American, she graduated with the Heron career records for goals against average (6.53) and wins (41). As a senior, Hutchinson Hundley backstopped William Smith all the way to the national championship game. For the second straight season, she produced a then school record 15 wins and established new school marks for season save percentage (.732) and season goals against average (3.88). Both of those records still stand. The 1992 North-South Senior All-Star also competed for the U.S. National Team in 1991 and 1992. She was also named the C. Markland Kelly Division III National Goalkeeper of the Year in 1992.

In three seasons on the field hockey team, Hutchinson Hundley registered 27 goals and 23 assists. Currently 10th on the career assists list, she was third when she graduated. The two-time all-region pick finished her sophomore season with 11 assists, at the time the second highest total in Heron history (currently 8th).

Hutchinson Hundley recognizes the integral role that the Heron Society played in her athletic experience at William Smith. “We had so many athletic opportunities available to us,” says Hutchinson Hundley. “We were provided outstanding coaches, excellent training facilities, especially with the field house being brand new in 1990, and great travel opportunities each year.”

The recipient of William Smith’s 1992 Marion Harrison Greene ‘20 Award, Hutchinson Hundley graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English.  She earned a master’s degree in education from Lesley University in 1995. A teacher of physical education, health and wellness at Horace Mann School and a member of the Vestry at St. Columba’s Church, Hutchinson Hundley has remained committed to William Smith athletics, serving on the Heron Society Board of Directors from 1995 through 2005, including two years as president.
