A history major and four-year starter in goal, Guy Van Arsdale led the Hobart College lacrosse team to four consecutive National Championships. He was awarded an unprecedented three consecutive Hero’s Club Awards, given to the outstanding Division III goalie, and garnered the Division III Player of the Year Award as a senior. Guy holds four Hobart records: career saves (667), career save percentage (.642), single season saves (216 in 1983), and single season save percentage (.670 in 1982). In fact, he boasts the top-3 single season save percentages in Hobart history — .667 in 1983 and .644 in 1981. He is also a member of elite company as one of only three Statesmen to be named first-team All-American for three consecutive years.
In 2001, Guy was hired as the head coach of the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse. In two years, he has amassed a .500 record of 14-14 and a trip to the MLL Playoffs. Previous to his current position he headed the lacrosse program at the Rochester Institute of Technology where Guy amassed a career record of 112-54 (.675) in 12 seasons. A three-time conference Coach of the Year, Guy has mentored 38 All-Americans, while guiding the Tigers to NCAA Tournament appearances in 1990, ’94, ’95, ’99, and 2000. A former assistant coach at both Hobart and the University of Massachusetts, he was inducted into the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Western New York US Lacrosse Chapter Hall of Fame in 1995.
