A stellar three-sport athlete, Wiltsey played basketball, lacrosse, and soccer for the Statesmen. The triple threat was awarded the 1958 Francis L. “Babe” Kraus Award as the senior athlete of the year.
While Wiltsey was a two-time letterman in soccer, he excelled on the basketball court and lacrosse field. On the hardwood, he starred as a member of the 1955-56 team that posted a final record of 15-5. The squad was recently honored as a Team of Distinction for establishing the Hobart record for season winning percentage, .750, which still stands today.
Wiltsey was an All-American lacrosse player, earning a spot on the honorable mention squad in 1958. He also captained the Statesmen during his senior campaign.
Off the playing field, Wiltsey actively contributed to the campus community. He was a Sigma Chi fraternity member, the president of the Board of Control, the secretary and treasurer of the Interfraternity Council, and served on the Academic Policy Committee. Wiltsey was a Dean’s List student who was elected to the Orange Key, Chimera, and Druid honor societies.
After graduating from Hobart with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Wiltsey attended law school at the University of Maryland. Upon graduating in 1962, he worked for Equitable Life in New York City and Regal Paper in Newark, NY. After a two year stint with Divco Wayne, he began two years with Educational Service Bureau. In 1978 he opened his own consulting firm, H.Wiltsey & Associates, specializing in labor relations and human resources to public employers.
