A history major, Mark J. Darcangelo is one of the most decorated lacrosse players in Hobart’s storied history. A four-year letter-winner and member of the first three NCAA Division III national championship teams, Darcangelo is one of only five Statesmen to earn first-team All-American accolades three times (1980-82). He collected honorable mention All-American accolades his rookie season and was named the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Midfielder of the Year three times (1980-82).
A Corning, N.Y. native, Darcangelo was named the Most Valuable Player in the 1981 national championship game and captained the 1982 squad that went on to win the Division III National Championship. Awarded the 1982 Joseph Abraham Training Award for perseverance through injury, he also garnered an invitation to the North-South All-Star Game that year. Named Hero’s Most Outstanding Midfielder in 1981 and 1982, Darcangelo completed his career eighth and currently ranks 16th on the career scoring list with 144 points, while his 84 goals and 60 assists during his four seasons place him 18th and 14th, respectively, on those career lists.
