Merle A. Gulick '30, a 1965 inductee of the College Football Hall of Fame, was an outstanding running back for the Statesmen football team. He served as captain of both the football and basketball teams and was a 1928 All-American in lacrosse. An active alumnus, he was the only graduate of the College to receive three alumni citations. Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 1950 to 1961, he is honored through the Gulick-Vogt Memorial Athletic Fund. He received the Hobart Alumni Association's Medal of Excellence in 1972.
