Robert F. Coffin '73 become the first swimmer to be inducted into the Hobart Hall of Fame. A four-year letterwinner, he served as captain his senior year. During that season he was named the team's Most Valuable Swimmer and received the Swimming Trophy after placing first 26 times. He qualified for the NCAA Championships from 1971 through 1973 and was crowned Upper New York State Champion in the 500-yards and 1650-yards freestyles in 1973. During his four years Coffin held 15 opponent's pool records and held all of Hobart's distance records.
