During her senior year in soccer, Hamilton led an extremely stingy defense. She and her teammates posted nine consecutive shutouts to start the season and kept the opposition scoreless in 15 of their first 16 matches. The Herons finished the season with a 15-2-1 record and Hamilton’s efforts were rewarded with a long list of honors. She was voted the Liberty League Player of the Year, the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, first team All-America and Scholar All-America praise.

On the basketball court, Hamilton started 23 of 27 games, averaging 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting a career-best .471 from the floor and .364 from beyond the 3-point arc. She grabbed a game and season-high 14 rebounds in a win over Skidmore, rang up a season-high seven steals in a win at Vassar and notched a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards in a win over Hamilton. She narrowly missed another double-double in the Liberty League Championship game, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds in the win over St. Lawrence. A week later, Hamilton tossed in 12 points in the Herons’ NCAA tournament win over St. John Fisher. William Smith finished the season with a 22-6 record.

At the William Smith Athletics Banquet, Hamilton was presented the Marion Harrison Greene ’20 Award which is presented to the Heron senior athlete for her impact on her team and William Smith Athletics. She was also the recipient of the Joseph N. Abraham Award for persevering through injury.

Hamilton was also an All-American following her junior season on the pitch, earning a spot on the third team. The recognition came on the heels of a 13-4-3 campaign that saw the Herons record 12 shutouts. Hamilton played in the first eight games of the basketball team’s 20-8 season before departing for South Africa in a study abroad program. She was the 2004-05 winner of the Susan Bassett Award, given to the Heron junior for excellence in athletics, academics and leadership.

As a sophomore, Hamilton guided the soccer team to a 15-5-2 record and the ECAC Upstate Championship. William Smith’s run to the title included a 1-0 shutout of Geneseo in the semifinals. She was named all-region, all-state and all-conference. In basketball, Hamilton contributed 4.0 points and 4.6 rebounds while helping the team to a four-game improvement in the win column and an ECAC Upstate Tournament bid. She earned the 2003-04 Hazel Nettleship Hardy ’65 Award for her contributions to William Smith Athletics.

During her first season on campus, Hamilton and the Herons advanced to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship semifinals, relying twice on penalty kicks to advance to the next round. Although William Smith was the runner-up in that year’s UCAA Tournament, Hamilton’s play stood out, earning her a spot on the all-tournament team.

Hamilton earned a bachelor’s degree in Africana studies and English in 2006. She returned to her alma mater and served as an assistant basketball coach from 2015 to 2017.
