A member of Chimera (junior class honor society) and a history major, Bill Morton earned four letters in varsity football and captained Hobart’s undefeated 1954 team. Playing on both sides of the ball as a halfback and a defensive back, Morton earned All-American honors as a running back in both 1953 and 1954. He received the Alumni Award as team MVP during both his junior and senior seasons. Over the course of his Hobart career, Bill started in 27 consecutive games.
Bill Morton retired from the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel after 25 years of service. Among his many awards was the USAF Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1981, Bill signed on with Halifax Engineering. As director of their aviation division much of his work centered on tooling design of the B-52 bomber. Since his retirement in 1989, Morton continues to serve Halifax as a consultant.
