Lyon posted a 2-1 mark in singles and a 1-1 record in doubles in the New York State Championships this weekend. Lyon advanced to the semifinals in the 4th singles bracket. She was the No. 3 seed in the bracket and won her first round match 6-4, 7-6(4), topping Nazareth’s Ami Petosa. In the quarterfinals, Lyon downed St. Lawrence’s Laura Goldhar 6-3, 6-2. She fell to the bracket’s top seed NYU’s Madeline King 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals. Lyon teamed with first-year Hannah More in the A Doubles bracket. The Heron pair defeated Nazareth’s Sara Kashton and Alison Tepas 8-5 in the first round, but were edged 9-8 (5) in the quarters by the No. 2 seeded NYU pair of Ashley Masanto and Alison Wang.
