Hallowell helped the Colleges capture their first MAISA Match Race Championship in Kings Point, N.Y., this weekend. Competeing in winds that reached upwards of 30 knots, he proved to be an expert tactician, allowing HWS to be one of the faster boats sailing into the the wind. Hallowell and the Colleges finished the round robin with a 5-2 overall record. In the semifinals, HWS bested Fordham 2-0, the first head-to-head win against the Rams this season. Because the second Georgetown Merchant Marine semifinal race was not completed by 6:02 p.m., sunset, the championship was awarded to HWS due to tie-breaking procedures. The Colleges had defeated the Hoyas 2-0 in the round robin.
