Konopka was named an assistant rowing coach for Hobart in August of 2018. During the pandemic shortened 2021 spring season, he assisted with both the Hobart and William Smith rowing teams.

In 2018-19, Konopka guided the 2V to a first place finish at the Liberty League Championships. Konopka also led the 3V to a gold medal at the NIRC Championships. Under his guidance, the 3V finished 18th overall at the IRA Championships and finished the year ranked No. 17 in the USRowing Coaches Poll.

During the summer of 2019, Konopka won the Intermediate Lightweight 1x at the USRowing Club Nationals.

He rowed for the Episcopal Academy and competed in the varsity 4+ three years. During this time, he won two Philadelphia city championships, came in third twice at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta and finished second & first at SRAA nationals. He also finished fifth and seventh at youth nationals in the youth 4+, as well as earning 10th place in the Youth 4+ at Head of the Charles.

Konopka is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he rowed on the lightweight team and was captain his senior year. During his time there, he competed at IRAs all four years, with notable finishes of fourth in the varsity lightweight 8+ in 2016 and fifth in the varsity lightweight 4+ in 2017. During the summers, Konopka has competed for both Undine Barge Club and Crescent Boat Club in Philadelphia. He has been a finalist and medalist at both USRowing Club Nationals and the Canadian Henley regatta multiple times, and in 2017 won the Under-23 Men’s heavyweight 4x at Canadian Henley.
