Poulakis was named the William Smith junior varsity soccer heach coach at the start of the 2014 season. Poulakis previously coached the Heron junior varsity squad from 1994-96.
In his first year at the helm of the program, Poulakis guided the Herons to a 6-2-1 overall record that included five shutouts and a perfect 3-0-0 record at home.

A thirty-year coaching veteran, Poulakis holds a USSF National license. He has coached soccer at numerous levels including semi-professional, college, high school and club teams. Poulakis was the head coach of women’s soccer at RIT from 1988-91, leading the Tigers to a 33-33-3 record.  He was one of the founders of the Rochester Spirit, the first girls’ premeir club in Rochester. In addition, he has worked at various camps including the University of North Carolina summer camps with Anson Dorrance. Poulakis is currently the Director of Coaches for the Irondequoit Soccer Club. He has been in charge of the club’s 18 travel teams and approximately 40 recreational teams for 10 years.
