Hobart and William Smith Colleges Athletics

Robert Bristol '31 was a Hobart trustee from 1959-79 and a member of the Alumni Council from 1959-62. The Robert A. Bristol Gymnasium, constructed in 1965, is named in his honor and his portrait hangs in the Gilman Room of the gymnasium. He was the first recipient of the Statesmen Athletic Association Annual Award in 1973. In 1981, the college held a testimonial dinner in his honor with more than 200 people attending.
