Cryril de Cordova "Darb" Brower '21 became the first Hobart College graduate to be inducted into a Hall of Fame when he was named to the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1959. A five-sport athlete as a Statesmen after transferring from New York University, he earned a total of 14 letters in lacrosse, track, basketball, baseball, and football, serving two years as captain of the track team. He was a member of Chimera (junior honor society) and the Druids (senior honor society) and was elected president of the senior class of 1921. An active member of the lacrosse world after graduation, he served as president of the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) from 1942-43 and was a member of the group's executive and rules committees for many years. A tireless worker for the sport, he officiated both lacrosse and football games in the New York City area after finishing his playing career with the Crescent Club of New York City.
