ANNVILLE, PA. -- The Lebanon Valley College field hockey team scored on a penalty stroke with just under six minutes remaining in the contest to claim a 2-1 victory over visiting William Smith College on Saturday afternoon. All five of the Herons' (10-5) losses in 1999 have been by a one-goal margin.
Lebanon Valley, the No. 1 team in the nation, took a 1-0 lead with just under seven minutes left in the opening half. Sophomore Nicole Livingston (Whitney Point/Whitney Point, N.Y.) brought the Herons even on an assist from classmate Jackie Hall (Berkshire School/Newport, R.I.) with 54 seconds left in the first half.
In the cage, sophomore Marjorie MacVean (Johnstown/Johnstown, N.Y.) made eight saves for William Smith.
The Herons, ranked No. 13 entering today's game, return to action on Sat., Oct. 23 when they travel to Lock Haven at 2 p.m.
