Herons blank Skidmore, win 9th straight

GENEVA, N.Y. -- First-year Kristin Perrigo (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) scored three goals, and senior Antoinette DeLucia (Shenendehowa/Mechanicsville, N.Y.) tallied one goal and three assists to lead the seventh-ranked William Smith College soccer team to a 10-0 victory over Skidmore. The Herons captured their ninth consecutive win, and improved to 10-2 overall, 3-0 in the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA).

DeLucia, who became William Smith's all-time leader in assists earlier this season, recorded her 89th career point and 37th career assist on sophomore Caroline Miller's (Nottingham/Syracuse, N.Y.) second goal of the year in the 68th minute.

UCAA Player of the Week Tatiana Korba (Wooster/Wooster, Ohio) continued her stellar senior campaign with two goals and one assist. She now has 14 goals and 3 assists for a total of 31 points this season.

UCAA Rookie of the Week Kristen Falzarano (Morristown/Morris Plains, N.J.) added one goal and one assist, and first-year Erika Turner (Wayzata/Plymouth, Minn.) netted her first career goal.

Sophomore Leah Cornwell (Wheatland-Chili) and senior Leslie Khachadourian (Guilderland/Albany, N.Y.) combined for three saves and the team's sixth shutout of the season. Khachadourian recorded her first collegiate point in the second half, assisting on Perrigo's third goal of the afternoon in the 77th minute.

The Herons will return to action on Sat., Oct. 9 at 2 p.m., hosting conference rival Union College.
