GENEVA, N.Y. -- At Alumni Field, junior Hunter Brown (Brooks School/Pittsburgh, Pa.) tallied one goal and one assist to lead the Hobart College soccer team to a 3-0 win over Alfred University. First-year goalkeeper Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) recorded nine saves, and the Statesmen (8-7-0) improved to 5-1-0 at home this season. The Saxons fell to 5-8-1.
Senior Donald Smialowicz (Waldwick/Waldwick, N.J.) gave Hobart a 1-0 lead off an assist from Brown in the 41st minute. Senior Rich Azulay (Thayer/Kingston, Mass.) netted a pass from classmate Chad North (Gloversville/Gloversville, N.Y.) in the 74th minute, and junior Nick Smith (Middlesex/Hartford, Conn.) assisted on Brown's team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 80th minute.
Junior Doug Limbach (Coxsack Athens/Athens, N.Y.) added one save for Hobart, while junior Jason Kornreich (Monroe-Woodbury/Monroe, N.Y.) notched five saves for Alfred.
Hobart returns to action on Sat., Oct. 30, for a 2 p.m., home match against Oswego State University.
