Box Score GENEVA, N.Y. --Sophomore Adam Godfrey (Franklin, Mass.) scored two goals and two assists to lead the Elmira College ice hockey team past the Hobart College Statesmen 6-3 at the Geneva Recreation Complex. The Soaring Eagles improve to 3-2, 1-0 in the ECAC West, while the Statesmen fall to 1-4, 0-1 in the ECAC West.
Elmira charged out to a 2-0 first period lead and extended its advantage to 4-0 in the second before Hobart pushed the puck past sophomore Rob Ligas (Scarborough, Ontario) at the 15:03 mark. Ligas finished with 30 saves.
First-year Kris Carlson (Johnstown, Pa.) and Godfrey accounted for the first period goals for the Eagles, while senior G.T. Keenan (N. Billerica, Mass.) and first-year Clark McPherson (Casper, Wyo.) scored in the second frame.
Junior Sean Elliott (Buffalo, N.Y.) broke through for the Statesmen off assists from Cam Matheson (Surry, N.H.) and Brad Boyer (Old Tapan, N.J.). Less than 90 seconds later, Hobart junior Kyle Moore (Medfield, Mass.) trimmed the Elmira lead to 4-2 assisted by junior Matt Pane (St. James, N.Y.) and junior Greg Reynholds (S. Glastonbury, Conn.).
Senior Andrei Krivokrasov (Angarsk, Siberia) stop the Statesmen's run with the final goal of the second period. Godfrey's power play goal early in the third period closed out the Elmira scoring.
Pane added Hobart's final goal thanks to helpers from seniors Mark Yetman (St. Mary's Bay, Newfoundland) and Travis Finkle (Youngstown, N.Y.).
Junior Chris Connolly (Melrose, Mass.) made 26 saves for Hobart before yielding to first-year Chris Ulrich (Chesapeake, Va.) who stopped all six shots he faced in his first collegiate action.
The Statesmen return to action on Tues., Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., when they travel to Buffalo State College.
