Bome leads Statesmen to victory in regular season finale

GENEVA, N.Y. -- At Alumni Field, first-year Bryan Bome (Marcellus/Syracuse, N.Y.) netted the game-winning goal and the Hobart College soccer team registered a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the University of Rochester on Tuesday afternoon. The Statesmen, winners of four of their last five, overcame rainy conditions and a 1-0 halftime deficit to improve to 10-7 overall, 7-1 at home. The Yellowjackets had their two-game winning streak snapped and fell to 8-10.

Junior Hunter Brown (Brooks School/Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded his team-leading sixth assist and 18th point of the season on Bome's blast in the 69th minute. Bome now has three goals in his initial campaign with the Statesmen.

Sophomore Ramzi Sidani (Lake Ridge Academy/Westlake, Ohio) gave Rochester a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute off a pass from classmate Bill Miller (Sewickley Academy/Pittsburgh, Pa.).

Sophomore Brent Chudachek (Union Endicott/Endwell, N.Y.) knotted the score at 1-1 when he converted on a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Both of Chudachek's goals this season have been scored on penalty kicks.

First-year goalkeeper Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) recorded nine saves for the Statesmen, while senior Ryan Teague (East/Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Tom Musto (Westhill/Syracuse, N.Y.) combined to make eight saves for the Yellowjackets.

The Statesmen, ranked ninth in the New York/Northeast Region, have completed their regular season schedule and await a possible ECAC Tournament berth.
