TROY, N.Y. -- Sophomore Nicole Livingston (Whitney Point/Whitney Point, N.Y.) recorded a hat-trick to lead the William Smith field hockey team to a 3-1 win at Rensselaer. The Herons outshot the Red Hawks 14-4.

Sophomore Carrie Cicciarelli (Whitney Point/Whitney Point, N.Y.) assisted on Livingston's first of three goals with just over eight minutes remaining in the opening half. Livingston's second score occurred with 24:12 left in the second half. The Herons tallied their final goal of the contest with 4:15 remaining in the game on a Livingston penalty stroke to increase their lead to 3-0.

Sophomore Marjorie MacVean (Johnstown High/Johnstown, N.Y.) registered one save for the victors.

William Smith returns to action on Tues., Sept. 28, when they battle host Rochester at 4 p.m.
