ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- John Mahoney scored a pair of goals in the final 3:34 of the game to lead host Nazareth to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Hobart soccer team. The Golden Flyers improved to 5-2, while the Statesmen fell to 5-2.
Sophomore Brent Chudachek (Union Endicott/Endwell, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season on an unassisted penalty kick to give Hobart a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. Senior Chad North (Gloversville/Gloversville, N.Y.) netted a pass from sophomore Jesse Martin (Cicero-North Syracuse/Liverpool, N.Y.) to snap a 1-1 tie early in the second half.
First-year goalkeeper Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) finished with eight saves for the Statesmen.
On Fri., Oct. 1, the Statesmen travel to Rensselaer for a 4 p.m. start.
