GENEVA, N.Y. -- The William Smith College soccer team extended its current win streak to seven matches today with a 2-0 victory over UCAA-rival Hamilton College. The Herons, ranked seventh in the nation, were led by first-year Kristin Perrigo (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.), who tallied a goal and an assist.
William Smith (8-2-0, 1-0-0 UCAA) dominated play from start to finish, outshooting the Continentals (2-2-2, 0-2-1) 12-1, but had to wait until the 70th minute to record its first goal of the game. Perrigo set up the game-winner crossing the ball into the middle, where junior Brianna Tindall (Poultney/Castleton, Vt.) netted her sixth goal of the season. In the 89th minute, Perrigo ensured the victory with an insurance goal, set up by quick passes by senior Antoinette DeLucia (Shenedehowa/Mechanicsville, N.Y.) and first-year Erika Turner (Wayzata/Plymouth, Minn.).
Sophomore Leah Cornwell (Wheatland-Chili/Scottsville, N.Y.) picked up her third shutout of the season, making one save, while senior Azure Davey (Loweville, N.Y.) made 10 stops for Hamilton.
