GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Senior goalie Leslie Khachadourian (Guilderland/Albany, N.Y.) had a career-high 25 saves to lead the No. 4 William Smith College lacrosse team to a 14-9 victory over ninth-ranked Gettysburg College. The Herons (8-0) won for the 28th time in their last 29 regular season games, and halted the Bullets' (12-2) program-record 12-game winning streak.
Khachadourian's total of 25 saves at Gettysburg is the second-best single-game performance in school history, behind Susan Stuart's 28 stops on May 14, 1988. Already a two-time ECAC Division III and NYSWCAA Goalie of the Week this season, Khachadourian is now No. 3 on the Herons' career saves list with 455. She needs just six more stops to move past Alison Spear, who currently occupies No. 2 with 460.
Despite being outshot 39-23 by its hosts, William Smith won 17-of-26 draw controls, forced 19 Gettysburg turnovers, and outscored the Bullets 9-5 in the second half.
Sophomore Gwen Parker (Woodstock/Brownsville, Vt.) and first-year Megan Shea (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.) both recorded a hat trick to lead the William Smith offense. Senior Danae Nason-Junco (BB&N/Boston, Mass.) finished with two goals and two assists, first-year Jackie Toner (Geneva/Geneva, N.Y.) delivered two goals and one assist, and first-year Amanda Wynn (Loomis Chaffee/Aspen, Colo.) provided one goal and two assists. Senior Rebecca Armiger (Centennial/Baltimore, Md.), sophomore Susanna Young (Cleveland/Cleveland Heights, Ohio), and junior Meghan Genovese (Geneva/Geneva, N.Y.) all added one goal for the Herons. First-year Brigid Lynch (Manhasset/Manhasset, N.Y.) had one assist.
Amy Stambaugh (Lutherville, Md.) led Gettysburg with three goals and one assist, while Jessica Seedorf and Anna Haugen added two goals apiece.
The Herons host Nazareth College on Tues., April 18, at 4 p.m.
