St. Lawrence stops Hobart, 2-0

GENEVA, N.Y.–The Hobart College soccer team lost a 2-0 decision this afternoon to the defending national champion, St. Lawrence University. The loss drops the Statesmen to 1-5-0, 0-1-0 in the UCAA, while the Saints improve to 4-0-0, 1-0-0.

St. Lawrence opened the scoring exactly 16 minutes into the match, on a direct kick blast from just outside the box off the foot of junior Allan Maragh (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Eight first half saves by Hobart sophomore Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) kept the Saints at bay for the rest of the frame. Rosier finished with 10 stops.

The visitors tacked on an insurance goal in the 57th minute. Maragh picked up the assist on junior Eric Harms (Manlius, N.Y.).

The Statesmen return to action on Sat., Sept. 16, when they host Clarkson in a match scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
