GENEVA, N.Y. --The Hobart College soccer team, ranked 10th in the NSCAA Northeast Region, dropped a tough 3-1 decision to fifth-ranked SUNY-Geneseo this afternoon. The Statesmen fall to 1-2-0, while the Blue Knights improve to 1-1-0.
Sophomore midfielder Bryan Bome (Marcellus Central/Syracuse, N.Y.) put Hobart on the board first in the 33nd minute, blasting a shot from the top of the box. Tough defense on both sides kept it a one-goal game until Geneseo's Bryan Amick fired a loose ball past sophomore goalie Cory Rosier (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) to knot the score at one in the 71st minute. Rosier finished with five saves.
Almost six minutes later, Eric Allen gave the Blue Knights the lead for good when he booted the ball through a crowd, past a diving Rosier to make it 2-1 Geneseo. The Blue Knights' Mike Merrill added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
