GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team improved to 4-2 this afternoon with a 6-3 win over visiting Hamilton College. The Continentals slipped to 3-5.
In doubles play, junior Molly Patterson (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and sophomore Karen Newbury (Maine-Endwell/Johnson City, N.Y.) teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1, while junior Sarah Coffin (St. George’s School/Bryn Mawr, Pa.) and sophomore Kristin Dowling (Scotia-Glenville/Scotia, N.Y.) took the No. 3 match, 8-3.
The Herons claimed each of the top four singles matches to secure the victory. Patterson, Newbury, Maier, and first-year Meghan Kelley (Norwell/Norwell, Mass.) won in straight sets.
William Smith returns to action at 4 p.m., on Oct. 8, at RIT.
