NEW HAVEN, Conn.--The William Smith squash team won its opening match of the Walker Cup this afternoon, a 5-4 decision over Wesleyan University. The victory assures the Herons of at least a .500 finish, the fourth time in six varsity seasons the team has met or exceeded that benchmark.
William Smith will play Wellesley at 9 a.m., on Feb. 21, in the semifinals of the Howe Cup's C Division. The Herons defeated the Blue two weeks ago in the Mt. Holyoke Tournament, 5-4.
