Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College ice hockey team got five goals from five different players this evening to hand Elmira College a 5-2 loss in ECAC West action at the Geneva Recreation Complex. The Statesmen have won the past four meetings after losing 20 consecutive to the Soaring Eagles.

Senior R.C. Schmidt (Buxton, Maine) put Hobart (9-7-5, 3-2-1 ECAC West) ahead 1-0 midway through the first period on a diving shot past the near post on a pass from first-year Marc Borden (Glenview, Ill.). Junior Craig Levey (Mississauga, Ontario) made it 2-0 less than six minutes later with a tremendous slapshot off a Greg Gallagher (Framingham, Mass.) pass on the power-play opportunity.

Elmira (9-10-2, 2-4-0 ECAC West) made it a one goal game 4:42 into the second frame when junior Jarrett Konkle (Milton, Ontario) put away a point blank shot off a pass from first-year Darcy Pettie (Kingston, Ontario).

The Statesmen responded with a pair of goals just 21 seconds apart three minutes later. Borden tallied the first score of a rebound, while sophomore Lee Carrier (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) got his fourth goal of the year off a pass from junior Jesse Desper (West Kennebunk, Maine).

Leading 4-1 heading into the final stanza, sophomore Will Brame (Chicago, Ill.) put the game away for good going top shelf with a well-placed wristshot. The Eagles tried to mount a comeback late as Konkle capitalized on a power-play opportunity making it 5-2 with 12:50 left to play, but that would be all Elmira could get against a strong Statesmen defense.

Hobart turned in a strong performance on the penalty kill, allowing just one goal on seven power-play opportunities. The Statesmen outshot the Eagles 25-23 for the game.

Junior Adam Lavelle (Chelmsford, Mass.) was spectacular in goal, going the distance and making 21 saves. Ben Sadler (Indiana, Pa.) and Greg Fargo (Kingston, Ontario) split time between the pipes for Elmira, combing for 20 stops.

Hobart is on a four-game home win streak and is unbeaten at the Geneva Recreation Complex in the past six games.

The Statesmen will put their streak to the test again on Feb. 7, hosting ECAC West rival Utica at 4 p.m.
