Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The 17th-ranked William Smith College field hockey team shutout visiting Hamilton this afternoon at McCooey Field. The victory was the 13th straight for the Herons over the Continentals, dating back to the 1992 season.

In the 18th minute, senior forward Lily Gillett (Wheeler School/Seekonk, Mass.) gave the Herons all of the offense they would need, chipping a long cross from junior forward Maggie Dolan (Towson/Towson, Md.) over the Hamilton goalie’s left shoulder.

In the second half, sophomore forward Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.) added a pair of insurance goals to raise her team-leading total to 10.

The William Smith (6-1, 2-0 Liberty) offense was so efficient and the defense so stifling that the Continentals (0-6, 0-2) failed to take a single shot during the contest.

Junior Sue Jordan (Boothbay/Boothbay, Maine) picked up the win in goal, while Hamilton senior Polly Noble (Chapin School/New York, N.Y.) recorded 16 saves.

William Smith returns to action at 7 p.m., on Sept. 29, when Rochester visits McCooey Field for another Liberty League match up.
