CANTON, N.Y.—The William Smith squash team opened its Liberty League title defense with a 9-0 win over Vassar at the Robie Squash Center this afternoon. The Herons got wins from junior Katie Hendricks (The Shipley School/Haverford, Pa.), senior Kinsey Cruice (The Lawrenceville School/Darien, Conn.), junior Shaila Pandole (Jai Hind College/Mumbai, India), first-year Lori Stump (Shady Side Academy/Pittsburgh, Pa.), sophomore Lucy Ross (Springside School/Philadelphia, Pa.), sophomore Maddie Brooks (Westminster School/New Canaan, Conn.), junior Serena Turner (The Taft School/Locust Valley, N.Y.), first-year Mimi Mattiasen (Tabor Academy/Ocean Beach, N.Y.), and sophomore Emily Gailun (Westminster School/Longmeadow, Mass.).

William Smith returns to action in the Liberty League Tournament at noon on Nov. 20, when the Herons battle Hamilton. William Smith closes out the round robin action at 2:30 p.m. against host St. Lawrence.
