Hobart cagers fall to RIT

Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team lost to visiting RIT 64-44 in Bristol Gym this evening. The Tigers improve to 1-0, while the Statesmen slip to 1-3.

Hobart took its only lead of the night on a three-pointer by senior guard Adam Frederic (Holy Cross/Flushing, N.Y.) two minutes into the contest. From there, RIT used a 15-3 run to charge out to a 19-8 lead. Sophomore guard Barrett Zeinfeld (Catalina Foothills/Tuscon, Ariz.) capped the run with the first of his game-high 12 points for the Tigers.

The Statesmen fought back within six at the 1:11 mark of the first half on a layup by senior forward Tim Apuzzo (Greeley/Cumberland, Maine), but RIT scored the last three points of the half and took a 31-22 advantage into the locker room.

The Tigers used an 11-3 run out of the gate in the second half to push their lead back into double digits for good.

Senior guard Drew Martin (Oneonta/Oneonta, N.Y.) also reached double digits in scoring for RIT with 10 points. Senior forward Fran Snyder (Bishop Timon St. Jude/Buffalo, N.Y.) grabbed a game-high seven rebounds to help the Tigers to a 46-30 advantage on the boards.

Senior guard Colby Feane (Weedsport/Weedsport, N.Y.) led the Statesmen with nine points in his first game this season due to the football team’s NCAA Playoff run.

Hobart is back in action at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3, when the Statesmen host Ithaca.
