Johanna Murphy(Amity/Woodbridge, Conn.) tallied three assists as the Herons improved their record to 7-0-0, 2-0, while the Golden Knights fall to 4-6-0, 0-2.
Burnett-Kurie's eight point effort tied the William Smith single game records for goals and points.
Joan Grupp '88 set the original mark with four goals against St. Bonaventure on Sept. 28, 1987.
Staci Donald '98 earned a share of the record on Sept. 23, 1995 at Hamilton.
Junior midfielder
Alex Rieben (Guilford/Guilford, Conn.) started the offensive outburst in the 8th minute when she gathered a pass from Murphy and chipped in her second goal of the season from 30-yards out.
The Herons extended their lead minutes later when Burnett-Kurie ripped a goal into the lower right-hand corner, beating Clarkson goalkeeper Meagan Emlaw (Norwood-Norfolk/Norwood, N.Y.), who turned away nine offerings in the loss. The Co-Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week displayed some crafty dribbling skills as she maneuvered through the Golden Knight defense to record her second and third goals at 15:48 and 19:27, respectively.
First-year midfielders
Sara Hayes (Radnor/Radnor, Pa.) and
Rayza Santiago(Webster Schroeder/Webster, N.Y.) registered their first collegiate goals sandwiched between Burnett-Kurie’s fourth goal.
Heather Phillip (Cayuga/King Ferry, N.Y.) tallied the assist on Hayes’ goal.
The William Smith defense only allowed Clarkson three shots, two of which were saved by
Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.). Dudley posted her seventh consecutive shutout victory.
The Herons will travel to conference rival Hamilton on Oct. 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
