Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Senior Heather Phillip (Cayuga/King Ferry, N.Y.) scored in the ninth minute and the William Smith defense made the goal stand up as the Herons earned a 1-0 Liberty League women’s soccer win over Skidmore College this afternoon. Phillip’s fourth goal of the season was backed up by senior goalie Nikki Dudley’s (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) sixth shutout (1 save). William Smith (10-3-1, 6-0-0) controlled the tempo of the match putting seven shots on goal compared to just one for Skidmore (9-3-3, 3-2-1).

The Herons can clinch their second straight Liberty League regular season crown with a win or a tie at Union on Oct. 21. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
