Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The ninth-ranked William Smith field hockey team extended its winning streak to 10 games and halted Rensselaer's success streak at four with a 2-1 Liberty League victory. The Herons improve to 10-1 overall, 4-0 in the Liberty League, while the Red Hawks slip to 6-5, 3-1.

Senior Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.) and junior Brittney Paye (Clinton/Clinton, N.Y.) staked William Smith to a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. RPI answered just before the break, but could not find the equalizer.

The Herons will be back in action on Oct. 7, when they travel to Vassar for a 2 p.m. start.
