Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y.—Hobart College senior Tyler Webster (Acton-Boxboro/Acton, Mass.) netted two goals this afternoon in the Statesmen soccer team’s 4-2 victory over Liberty League foe Clarkson. Hobart, who clinched a spot in the league tournament with the win, improved its record to 9-2-2 overall and 3-1-2 in league play. The Golden Knights fell to 3-8-2 on the season and 0-5-1 in conference action.

The Statesmen netted three of their goals in a span of five minutes. First-year Justin Dotzman (Council Rock South/Holland, Pa.) started things off in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a pass from sophomore Sam Wisner (Wayland/Wayland, Mass.). Two minutes later, Wisner tallied one of his own, set up by junior Philipp Schoeniger (Erlangen/Erlangen, Germany), and just over a minute after that, Webster scored his first goal of the day. He blasted a shot from 15 yards out to give Hobart a 3-0 lead at 25:16 in the first half. Webster tallied again in the 75th minute. Both his goals were unassisted.

Clarkson got on the board in the 82nd minute with an own goal, then again when Seni Makinde scored off a helper from Mike D’Amico.

The Statesmen out shot the Golden Knights 17-8, and held a slight 5-4 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Junior goalkeeper Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) picked up four saves for Hobart in his seventh win of the season, while Clarkson goalie Jonathan Rushing collected six saves.

The Statesmen will be in action again tomorrow, Oct. 21, when they take on Liberty League rival St. Lawrence in Canton at 1 p.m.
