Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—With 49 seconds left in regulation, William Smith College first-year Brelynn Nasypany (Herkimer/Herkimer, N.Y.) scored on a 60-yard breakaway, giving the Herons a 1-0 victory over St. Lawrence University in Liberty League women’s soccer action this afternoon. The win extended fifth-ranked William Smith’s unbeaten record to 14-0-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the league, while the Saints dropped to 7-8-0 overall and 2-5-0 in conference play.

After five attempts throughout the game, including three shots on goal, Nasypany’s sixth shot found the back of the net. Before taking the shot, she carried the ball 60 yards and beat three St. Lawrence defenders. The tally was Nasypany’s team-leading 11th of the season.

In over 89 minutes of scoreless action, the Herons out shot the Saints 20-7, while the visitors held a 4-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

First-year goalkeeper Alice Binns (Beaver Country Day/Boston, Mass.) made four stops for William Smith, including a key save in the 32nd minute following a St. Lawrence corner kick that almost curved into the goal. The shutout was Binns’ sixth of the season. First-year Hayleigh Hochberg (Croton Harmon/Croton, N.Y.) picked up eight saves for St. Lawrence.

The Herons will close out their regular season schedule next Saturday, Oct. 27, when they travel to Ithaca for a non-league match at 3 p.m. William Smith and Hamilton are currently tied for first place in the Liberty League standings. The league tournament host and seedings will be determined after the last regular season game for both teams.
