Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa.—The Hobart College football team rolled up 599 yards of total offense in a 41-13 Liberty League win at Susquehanna University tonight. Senior quarterback Andrew Strom (Novato/Novato, Calif.) threw for a career-high 387 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Statesmen.

On an unseasonably warm evening, the Hobart defense turned in a stellar performance, forcing the Crusaders to punt on their first eight possessions. Susquehanna gained just three first downs and a scant 65 yards during the first half.

Meanwhile, the offense got on the board midway through the first quarter when Strom hit junior tight end Matt Duliba (Forestville/Forestville, N.Y.) on an 11-yard pass play.

It remained a 7-0 game until midway through the second quarter when junior running back Anthony Hobaica (Utica-Proctor/Utica, N.Y.) scored on a 1-yard plunge, sending the Statesmen into halftime with a 14-0 lead.

Hobart punted three times in the first half and senior Dominick Ancona (Chaminade/Garden City, N.Y.) dropped all three inside the Susquehanna 20, averaging 47 yards per punt. The Crusaders’ average starting field position in the first quarter was their own 12 and that improved only marginally in the second quarter to their own 22.

Hobart (3-2, 2-1) scored on four of its five possessions in the second half (the Statesmen ran out the clock with their last possession). Senior James Wright (Olean/Olean, N.Y.) collected a 5-yard TD pass from Strom for a 21-0 lead to start the third quarter. Wright caught four passes for 80 yards.

Susquehanna (1-5, 0-3) finally solved the Hobart D when running back Dave Paveletz scored from 3 yards out, capping a 7-play, 51-yard drive. He came into the game averaging 121.2 rushing yards per game, but was held to just 73.

The Statesmen answered with a little razzle dazzle. Hobart faked a reverse, flipped the ball back to Strom who went deep for junior wideout Zach Schulz (Westhampton Beach/Westhampton, N.Y.). He finished the game with five receptions for a game-high 130 yards. The scoring strike covered 61 yards and left the Statesmen a 27-7 lead after the extra point was blocked.

Susquehanna threatened to score again, but junior linebacker Justin Hager (Salamanca/Salamanca, N.Y.) forced and recovered a fumble at the Hobart 5-yard line. He finished with a team-high eight tackles.

The Statesmen put the game out of reach on the ensuing possession, marching 95 yards in 14 plays, taking 6:35 off the game clock. Senior running back Don Gilardi (Eastridge/Rochester, N.Y.) capped the drive with a 6-yard scoring run with 14:09 left in the fourth.

Junior wideout Ryan LiDrazzah (Kent School/San Diego, Calif.) caught Strom’s final TD pass, this one 57-yard strike with 9:37 left to make it a 41-7 game. LiDrazzah had a game-high six catches for 122 yards.

Hobart returns to Boswell Field on Oct. 13, when the Statesmen host Merchant Marine. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
