Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y.—Oswego used a 10-0 late in the first half to turn a three-point deficit into a lead the host Lakers would not relinquish, handing Hobart an 86-74 season-opening loss.
The Statesmen (0-1) trailed by as many as 15 in the second half, but used an 11-1 run to cut their deficit to just four with 2:08 remaining. Oswego (1-0) made nine of 10 free throws down the stretch to stave off Hobart’s comeback bid.
Senior forward John Grazioli led the Statesmen with a game-high 27 points on 12-of-17 shooting, while first-year guard Robert Estep added 12 points. First-year guard Adam Salzmann contributed nine points, a team-high seven rebounds, a game-high eight assists, and three steals.
Hobart is back in action on Nov. 17, when the Statesmen take on St. Joseph’s (Vt.) at Oswego at 4 p.m.
