Box Score CANTON, N.Y.—The 22nd-ranked Hobart College soccer team fell to St. Lawrence University 1-0 today in the semifinal round of the Liberty League Men’s Soccer Tournament. The fourth-seeded Statesmen dropped to 11-3-3 on the season, while the top-seeded Saints improved to 9-2-6 overall.
After almost 77 minutes of scoreless action, St. Lawrence senior Charlie Bogosian scored the lone goal of the game, assisted by junior Ian Fairlie. Fairlie passed the ball into the box, finding Bogosian, who dribbled it in front of junior Hobart keeper Pete Van Dellon (Webster Thomas/Webster, N.Y.). Van Dellon came out to clear the ball, but Bogosian went around him for the shot.
Hobart held a man-up advantage for the final 3 minutes, 23 seconds of the match, but could not get a shot off.
Overall, the Saints out shot the Statesmen 19-12, but Hobart held the 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Van Dellon finished with six saves for the Statesmen, while Emilio Coletta also collected six stops for St. Lawrence.
The Saints play Hamilton tomorrow, Nov. 3, for the Liberty League title at noon.
