GENEVA, N.Y.--The Hobart College squash team earned its first victory of the young season, overpowering Colgate 7-2 in the Smith Squash Center.
Hobart senior Graham Gardiner (Woodberry Forest School/Locust Valley, N.Y.), first-year Dan Sills (Loomis Chaffee/West Hartford, Conn.), junior Mook Lawrence (Avon Old Farms/Beverly Farms, Mass.), and first-year Carl Ranieri (Bronxville School/Bronxville, N.Y.) posted 3-0 wins at No. 6 through No. 9, respectively.
Junior Cale Forgues (Ridley College/Kemptville, Ontario) scored a 3-1 win at No. 1, while sophomore Craig Chircop (The Gow School/Northfield, Ill.) and first-year Luke Esselen (Salisbury School/Plano, Texas) rounded out Hobart's victories with hard-fought 3-2 triumphs at No. 4 and No. 5.
The Statesmen return to action on Nov. 10, when they travel to Annapolis, Md., for matches against Navy (11:30 a.m.) and Denison (4:30 p.m.).
