Herons defeat Camels, 6-3

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College squash team downed Connecticut College 6-3 this afternoon at the Smith Squash Center. The Herons improve to 7-2 overall, after defeating the Camels for the second time this season.

All six of William Smith’s winners won their matches 3-0. Senior Emily Gailun (Westminster School/Longmeadow, Mass.) won at No. 4, sophomore Katie Mullen (Convent of the Sacred Heart/Rye, N.Y.) at No. 5, sophomore Emily Hazenberg (Pomfret School/New York, N.Y.) took No. 6, sophomore Sarah Hallberg (Tabor Academy/Fairmont, W.Va.) won at No. 7, junior Megan Peterson (Kent School/Stamford, Conn.) took the eighth match, and first-year Sarah Cummings (Miss Porter’s School/West Hartford, Conn.) earned the victory in the ninth spot.

The Herons will break for the holidays, and return to the courts on Jan. 26-27 when they travel to compete in the Mt. Holyoke/Smith Tournament.
