PITTSFORD, N.Y.--The William Smith tennis team won its first dual match of the season this afternoon, knocking off St. John Fisher by a score of 8-1.

After sweeping the doubles matches, senior Tara Ware (Avon/Avon, Conn.), first-year Amanda Slack (Cape Elizabeth/Cape Elizabeth, Maine), and sophomore Meredith Levenson (Andover/Andover, Mass.) posted straight set singles victories at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6, respectively, while sophomore Shari Damon (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye, N.Y.) and Katie Campbell (Winchester/Winchester, Mass.) gutted out three set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

The Herons are back in action, Sept. 21-23, when they host the ITA Northeast Region Championships.
