Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa.—The William Smith College soccer team defeated Scranton this afternoon 2-0, on day two of the Gettysburg Tournament. The Herons improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Royals drop to 0-2. William Smith leads the all-time series with Scranton 4-0. It was the first meeting between the two schools since 1992.

Tracy Stankavage (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) put the Herons on the board less than two minutes into the game, off assists from sophomore
Megan Stevens (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and senior
Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.).
Midway through the second-half, Burnett-Kurie took a pass from Stevens and drilled a shot past Scranton’s goalie to set the final score.
First-year goalkeepers
Alice Binns (Beaver Country Day/Boston, Mass.) and Alexandra Chase (Bosque School/Albuquerque, N.M.) each recorded a save in the shutout.
The Herons will host the Heron Cup on Sept. 8-9. They will take on Gettysburg at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
