Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The 13th-ranked William Smith College soccer team defeated Skidmore 1-0 this afternoon in Liberty League action on Cozzens Field. The Herons extend their unbeaten streak to 10, dating back to last season. William Smith improved to 8-0-0 overall, and 2-0-0 in conference play, while the Thoroughbreds drop to 3-3-2 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.
First-year forward Brelynn Nasypany (Herkimer/Herkimer, N.Y.) netted the lone score of the game in the 26th minute. Nasypany dribbled past a Skidmore defender on a fast break, and beat senior Thoroughbred goalkeeper Liza Mills (Ward Melville/Setauket, N.Y.) for the fifth goal of her young career.
William Smith out shot Skidmore 13-10, and held a 3-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Thoroughbred junior Katie Crapulli (Belmont/Belmont, Mass.) made a last-minute effort to tie the game in the 88th minute, but first-year Heron goalie
Alice Binns (Beaver Country Day/Boston, Mass.) was there to make the save.
First-year netminder Alexandra Chase (Bosque School/Albuquerque, N.M.) picked up three saves and the win for William Smith, while Binns finished with two stops. Mills recorded three saves for Skidmore.
The Herons will take the field again on Sept. 29, when they host Hamilton for a Liberty League contest at 2 p.m.
