GENEVA, N.Y.-–The William Smith tennis team lost a hard-fought 5-4 match to visiting Hamilton College today.

First-years Amanda and Melissa Slack (Cape Elizabeth/Cape Elizabeth, Maine) earned the lone doubles victory for the Herons, defeating Liz Goheen and Maile Thayer at third doubles by a score of 8-5.

Singles went better for William Smith with the Herons winning at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6. Senior Katie Campbell (Winchester/Winchester, Mass.) defeated Marni Powers 6-2, 7-5; Melissa Slack defeated Ashley Pardoe 7-5, 6-3, and Amanda Slack defeated Beth McDonald 6-1, 6-2.

William Smith is back in action on Oct. 19, at the NYSWCAA Championships in Ithaca.
