GENEVA, N.Y.--The Hobart tennis team won its season opener today, defeating St. John Fisher 8-1.

After the Statesmen swept the three doubles matches, senior Charlie Davis (Manlius Pebble Hill School/Cazenovia, N.Y.), first-year Harry King (Concord & Carlisle/Concord, Mass.), junior Adam Cohn (Hawken School/Highland Heights, Ohio), first-year Matt Chin (Hingham/Hingham, Mass.), and first-year Will Tucker (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) picked up straight sets singles wins for Hobart.

Karl Schiefer posted the Cardinals lone victory with a straight set win at fifth singles.

The Statesmen are back in action on Sept. 15, when they take on Rochester at 9 a.m. in the first round of the Flower City Tournament.
