Stephanie Czajkowski (Bishop Ludden/Syracuse, N.Y.) scored a game-high 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and 2-of-3 at the line.
First-year guard
Mollie Danahy (Troy/Troy, N.Y.) joined Czajkowski in double digits with 11 points, including a pair of threes, and four steals. Senior guard
Marisa Vespa (Immaculate Heart/Watertown, N.Y.) contributed seven points, six assists, and four steals, while junior guard
Latasha Coney (Lyons/Lyons, N.Y.) chipped in nine points and three steals.
Ashley Sherman was the only Brewer to hit double digits, recording 12 points.
William Smith (11-1, 2-0) recorded a season-high 20 steals, while Vassar committed 32 turnovers, the most by a Heron opponent this season. The visitors needed just five minutes to build a 14-0 lead and cruised to a 42-14 halftime lead, shooting 54.8 percent from the floor (a first half season-high).
The 42 points is the second highest first half offensive production for William Smith this season (the Herons’ scored 44 points at RPI last night), while the Brewers’ 14 points are the lowest first half scoring output by a William Smith opponent this season.
The Herons are back in action on Jan. 25, when they travel to Skidmore. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
